There are about 1,200 institutions in Australia and more than 22,000 different courses for international students. Moreover, there are a wide range of options available for primary, secondary, Vocational Education and Training (VET), English courses and higher education. University classes are mostly teach in large lectures and small class tutorials. Australia’s laws ensure that all international students receive equal education and protection. These include the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, the Overseas Students Registration Act 2000 and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers (Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007 (National Code)) to ensure that international students have access to consistent education and training anywhere in Australia.

澳洲學年制度
學年分別開始於每年2月初（一般學生）和2月底 / 3月初 (職業和大學)。大部分學校有3個或4個學期；大學和職業學院有兩個學期。考試一般在每學期結束時舉行 (6月和11月)。學期之間通常會有2至4週的休息時間。長暑假休息，是從 11或12月到2月。
澳洲升學途徑
1. 2012年開始實施的新學制，大學學位課程一般為期4年。
2. 大學學位課程一般為期3年，唯個別學科年期不同, 由3年至6年不等。
3. 中五學生入讀大學基礎課程，只適用於個別院校，詳細入學要求有待院校公佈。
4. 學生需視乎英語成績，決定是否需要修讀英語課程。
AUSTRALIAN ACADEMIC SYSTEM
The academic year begins in February (regular students) and at end of February / early March (vocational and college students). Most schools have three or four semesters; universities and vocational colleges have two semesters. Examinations are generally held at the end of each semester (June and November). There is usually a 2 to 4 week break between semesters. The long summer break is from November or December to February.
Pathways to Study in Australia
1. According to the academic structure implemented in 2012, normally a university degree program takes 4 years.
2. University degree courses generally takes 3 years, with some exceptional subjects which take 3 to 6 years.
3. Grade 11 students are enrolled into Foundation, which is only applicable to individual institutions. Details of the admission requirements are to be announced by the institutions.
4. Students are required to take English courses according to their level of English.

大學
大學是澳洲最高等的教育。全澳洲有39間大學，37間為政府資助的公立大學，2間為私立大學。同學可於校內修讀學士或研究生課程（包括證書、深造文憑、碩士及博士課程）。
University
University is Australia’s highest level of education. There are 39 universities, in which 37 are government-funded public universities and 2 private universities. Students can take a Bachelor or Master program (including Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s and Doctoral Programs) on-campus.
職業訓練學院
提供實習的技巧訓練，有助就業。職業訓練課程於政府資助之持續進修院校，或其他私人院校提供。大部份院校更提供大學之學分豁免課程。
Vocational Institutions
Provide practical skills training to boost employment. Vocational training courses are offered at government funded TAFE-Technical and Further Education or by other private institutions. Most institutions also offer university credit exemption courses.
英語精研課程
全澳洲約有100所私人英語精研中心，而部份大學及TAFE訓練學院均會提供此課程，為想進修、旅遊、移民或商業發展的同學提供英語訓練。
ELICOS, English Language Courses
There are about 100 private English centers in Australia. Some universities and TAFE training institutes also offer this course. The course provides English training for students who want to study, travel, immigrate or develop a business in Australia.
澳洲大學基礎課程
澳洲大學基礎課程是大學學士學位的預備班，主要由大學及大專院校提供，大多獲聯繫大學認可。課程大多為期1年，完成課程後升讀大學的比率高達80%－95%，為未能直升澳洲大學的學生提供多一個入學途徑。 大學基礎課程不設公開考試，學生只需於功課、測驗及校內考試達標，便可保證升讀聯繫大學一年級。澳洲八大均有聯繫院校開辦大學基礎課程。學生若有意入澳洲八大而未合資格直接升讀大一，可先修讀這些基礎課程，便提升入讀澳洲八大的機會。
Foundation Program
Foundation is the preparatory program for bachelor’s degree programs offered by universities and tertiary institutions, mostly accredited by affiliated universities. Most foundation courses last for one year, and 80% -95% of the graduates may enter universities. Thus provide an alternative way for students who have not been promoted to Australian universities to enter. There are no public examinations within the course. Students will only be assessed on homework, tests and internal examinations for entering university. Australia’s eight major universities are linked to the foundation course. Students who wish to enter the Australian Eight but are not eligible for direct admission to first year may take foundation courses as an advantage to enhance their entry possibility.
證書
一般澳洲證書課程為期1年，便與大學基礎課程相約。修畢證書課程之後可升讀聯繫的文憑課程或大學學士一年級。澳洲證書課程提供的科目選擇較多，如商科、資訊科技、酒店及旅遊管理等。
Certificate
The Australian Certificate Program is a one-year program that is similar to the University Foundation Program. Completion of the Certificate Program may be followed by a diploma program or a Bachelor’s degree.
文憑
部分澳洲院校亦提供聯繫的1年制文憑課程，學術程度與學士學位1年級相約。修畢文憑課程後可直接升讀該大學提供的學士學位2年級課程，讓學生節省一年時間。文憑課程提供的科目選擇亦較多，如醫療護理、工程、工商管理、資訊科技、酒店及旅遊等。澳洲的高等教育包括300多所職業教育及培訓學院(Vocational Education and Training，簡稱VET)，開辦多項實用性證書及文憑課程。為確保教育水準，無論是政府院校TAFE (Technical And Further Education)或私立院校(College 或Institute)，所有提供VET課程之機構均受政府嚴格監管。
Diploma
Some Australian institutions offer a 1-year diploma program, which corresponds to the first year of a Bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of the diploma program, students can directly enter the second year of the bachelor’s degree offered by the university and save them a year. The diploma courses also offer a wide range of subjects such as medical care, engineering, business administration. Higher education includes more than 300 Vocational Education and Training (VET) schools offering a range of practical certificates and diplomas. To ensure the standard of education, all institutions providing VET courses, whether by TAFE (Technical And Further Education) or private colleges, are all under government supervision.
